about this boy I suppose I figured some of you might want to know a little about me, so this is my response to that inquiry. My name is Vincent, which you've either known for quite awhile or gathered from your wanderings around this site. I was born and raised just outside of Atlanta, and I'm still around here today. The only downside I've discovered in staying in one spot for my entire life is that every so often, a Southern drawl will slip into my speech; I like to say that if I weren't Asian, I'd be a good ol' Southern boy. I'm struggling to be an artist, though I don't suppose I'm striving to be a struggling artist. Among the many things I've tried out are writing, drawing, painting [oils], and photography. Typically, my prose is compact, but I've been told that it carries with it much emotion. I struggle with poetry; it's abstract and now feels more alien to me than ever before. I decided to attempt drawing again and now own a sketchbook. I've only done a few oils, and they were experiments then. I'd really like to go back to it, though. The only downside is that they're such a mess and require a large amount of time. Photography is currently my artistic staple. I seldom create my images as it feels more natural just to capture them. I've played ultimate in various rec leagues, though. none currently. I ran cross country every fall in high school, but running is now but a personal hobby and way to stay in shape. I enjoy pickup games of tackle football and beach volleyball. I also try to spin/cycle and lift on a regular basis with some swimming thrown in. You'll find me in North Georgia, the Smoky Mountains, or the Nantahala NF hiking in much of my free time. I guess this is a testament to my (rugged?) athleticism: I'm not just a bookish nerd, I swear. I love music. I am almost always listening to music, and in my off-time, I like creating it. I began my dabbling in the fourth grade when I picked up violin with the school orchestra. I continued playing violin through the eighth grade. I began to learn harmonica sometime in this interval, but I have since forgotten everything about the thing. I picked up my first guitar at age 12, a Fender Stratocaster. I've since gotten myself an acoustic, which I adore, and taught myself everything I know about the instrument. I went through a stint of brass-playing during my junior year, when I learned to play the euphonium with my highschool band. I also have had the ability to bang away on the piano. I love to sing, and now actively participate in the Georgia Tech Glee Club. I would not even attempt to classify my political beliefs these days. On some issues, I find myself growing increasingly conservative as I age, but on other issues I find that I grow increasingly liberal. I don't align with any political party and like to think for myself, despite the trouble it might get me in. I am currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology as a mechanical engineer. I am also seeking a minor in aerospace engineering and considering one in music. Currently, I plan on getting a master's in industrial design at some point, but I am hoping to be accepted into the Teach For America program after I graduate with my BSME. I am currently employed as an intern at Slingshot Product Development Group as a design engineer in the Medical Device Division. I also part time at REI at their Perimeter (#54) location as a sales specialist in their footwear and outerwear. In short, I'm an artsy, intelligent, athletic, Southern boy. Oh, and I'm single. Anyone want me? |
